Holmdel, NJ - The boys travel to Holmdel Park this Saturday to take on the best in the state. The boys are fresh off an 34th state championship win. The Colts finished 1 through 4 with Luke Hnatt '26 recording his first XC state title in 15:40. Gavin Schmitt '27 was on his heels as they ran the two fastest times of the state meet weekend. The Colts have won a staggering 27 Meet of Champions (MOC). 27 is 3 wins more than the rest of the schools in New Jersey have won combined. They will look for their 4th in a row and 28th overall.

CBA Team Wins at the MOC
CBA won its first MOC title in 1979. The team of Marc Librizzi, John McCabe, Kevin Brandon, Greg Karpick, Steve Apostolacus, Ed Hilmann and John Vickers brought home the crown. The meet marked the first use of the current Holmdel Park course. The boys averaged 16:56 and scored 57 points. In 2024, the team of Joe Barrett '25, Luke Hnatt '26, Ryan Schmitt '25, Alex Mastroly '25, Gavin Schmitt '27, Ryan Collins '26 and Wyatt Falkowski '26 averaged 15:42 and scored a meet record 16 points. In fact, the boys scored 20 points against the entire race (individuals not on a team are removed from scoring). If you would like a great rundown of each Meet of Champions, you can find it here. Since 2010, the Academy has won every iteration of the NJ MOC except 2016 and 2021. Though the meet was uncontested in 2020, the boys won the unofficial state title, The Holmdel Invite. CBA Individual Wins at the MOC
The runners from CBA won 11 team MOC titles before Brian Kerwin '00 tore up Holmdel for the first individual win for the Colts. Since then, only Mike McClemens '14 and Joe Barrett '25 raised the individual trophy. Barrett completed the feat twice.
