4 Champions in 8 Events on Day 1 of Monmouth County
Jason Gentile led off the Monmouth County Championship 4 x 800. The team won in 8:14.50.
Middletown, NJ - The Colts took on Monmouth County at Middletown High School North. In Day 1 of the meet, the boys won 4 events. After 8 events, they lead 65.5 to 20 over 2nd place Ocean Township.
Senior Chris Brown had a great afternoon in the high Jump. He won the event with a jump of 6'4". The rest of the jumps crew had a solid day with Kam Coleman debuting in the long jump at 20'2.5" and sophomore Tristan MacFarlane earning 6th in the high jump at 5'8".
The throwers had themselves a night. Tyler Mayerhoff '22 and Robert Manse '22 went 1st and 2nd in the discus for the second year in a row with throws of 175'3" and 162'1". Junior Code Abutel joined them for 4th in 140'5".
The 1600 was another highlight for The Colts. Jack Falkowski '24, Nick Sullivan '23 and Conor Clifford '24 finished 1st, 4th and 6th. Jack won in 4:19.66. Sullivan and Clifford were 4:20.44 and 4:20.84 respectively.
Not to be out done, the 4 x 800 crew of Jason Gentile '22, John Holovach '22, Matthew Herman '23 and Zach Shroba '23 won in a time of 8:14.50.
Matt Herman '23 and Ben Skrincosky were 3rd and 5th in the 400 IH.
The meet picks up on Friday at 4:00 pm.
